Dress #64 Bacon and Eggs

One morning this week, I noticed that my omelet had a nice ruffled edge. Of course, this led me to today's dress. Looks good enough to eat---and it was!

Dress #63 Orange Sundress

I found some orange fabric in the stash. So instead of carrots, we have an orange sundress. Simple, in a lovely color---at least for those who like orange.

Dress #62 Blue Skies

The background of this fabric looks like our sky today! Spring blue, and fluffy white clouds. The leaves are the same stage of newness as on the trees, too.

Dress #61 Black and Cream Stripes

I think this dress is a bit dreary. The red felt flower perks it up at bit, but still...

Dress #60 Gray and Yellow

I'm loving all the gray, yellow and white combinations in fashion lately. Softer than black and white, yet quite elegant, too.

Dress #59 Breezy Scallops

A beautiful spring day here---more seasonable temperatures, and March winds. Somehow this paper looks like it is blowing in the breeze to me, and so we have this dress for today
.

Dress #58 24 Carrot Orange

Orange is so "in" this year. I personally love most shades of orange---one of the first dresses I remember wearing had an orange sash. There is plenty of orange yarn in my stash, but not too much orange fabric. The refrigerator, however, yielded orange raw materials.

Dress #56 Cherry Blossoms on a Gray Day

This spring is so warm, but the mornings so gray. This cherry blossom motif is from some scrapbooking paper, scanned, and then printed. I tweaked up the gray for a sophisticated pink and gray fabric.

Dress #55 Pink Polka Dots

Very summery looking, for a picnic or maybe high school graduation? This dress is all paper---giving me those nice sharp pleats.

Dress #54 Diva

For 25 years or so, I've been wearing the same perfume---Diva, by Emanuel Ungaro. Their ads back in the eighties featured an elegant all-over pleated dress. The bottle has this shape, too. Unfortunately, the perfume has become difficult to locate, so it might be time for a change. Whimper...

Dress #53 First Day of Spring

More flowers for the first day of spring. I love this dress, too. The flared sleeves, the petal skirt, a bit of bling. I think this would work on Dancing with the Stars, no?

Dress #52 Inspired by Kate

This little dress is loosely inspired by a dress worn by Kate Middleton the other day. I printed the fabric on my trusty printer, and cut the flowers on my Silhouette Cameo.

Dress #51 Tulip Magnolia Tutu

Everything is blooming early this spring! The tulip magnolias in Patterson Park are always magnificent, but they shed their petals all over, making a thick blanket of pink snow. A few of those petals have gone into this tutu-looking dress. Perhaps for the Waltz of the Flowers?

Dress #50 St. Patrick's Day

Of course, there's a dress for St. Patrick's Day. I love this fabric, too and it has been in the stash for ages. Umm, have I ever met a fabric I didn't love? Oh, yes, of course. But not too many!

Dress #49 Looks Like Lace

This is another fabric I love---the grayish blue and the printed design looking like a lace overlay. I think it would make a lovely dress.

Dress #48 In Memory...

Three years ago today, my father died. This dress, actually a Christmas ornament from Hobby Lobby, was bought the last time I went shopping with him. It holds a special place in my heart with my memories of him.

Dress #47 Pi Day

Isn't this a perfect dress to wear to the geek dance? Or the mathematician's ball? Fabric printed here using recycled fabric from one of Jeff's shirts.

Dress #46 Summer's Coming

I love this dress. Just as it is. No trim. No ribbon. No lace. Perhaps because it is very warm today---for this time of year---I'm in the mood for a summer dress. I want this dress with a blue cardigan for me! I rarely wear yellow, and there isn't much blue in my wardrobe either but this fabric pleases me.

Dress #45 Girl Scout Tribute

Today is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Girl Scouts of America. Although I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout, I never had as much fun with them as I've had in the last couple of years being the "Creative Director" for Troop 4011. This is also a tribute to my friend Jane's mother who was very active in the Girl Scouts in New Jersey. She always used green ink, and a green ribbon in her typewriter. So thanks, Nancie and Dorothy. And yes, it is a brownie.

Dress #44 Paper Planning

This might look a little strange, but I'm working on an idea, so I played around with paper a little. Love this paper---the pinky, coral color, the bubbly dots, and the hibiscus motif on the reverse side! It also looks like spring!

Dress #43 Rice Kimono

When we both decided this rice was better used for packing material, the idea of recycling the trash into today's dress seemed like a good thing. The kimono styling was obvious.

Dress #42 Barbie

Today is Barbie's 53rd birthday, and although I never had a Barbie doll (or wanted one for that matter) I used today to commemorate one of the Barbie advertising slogans: "Without you, I'm just plastic." Today's dress is bubble wrap fabric, ironed until it pops, cooled and cut. I think perhaps the clear bubble wrap fabric has additional potential for mother-of-pearl buttons. Looks like Barbie is going to Hawaii for her birthday!

Dress #41 Zumiez

As I was coming home from my walk in the park this morning, a shopping bag in one of my neighbors recycling caught my eye: tan with black doodles on it---almost like the designs we used to make with the Spirograph. So I recycled part of the bag into today's dress. I didn't know Zumiez, but the web tells me that it is a skateboarding and such type store. It is likely that I'd never fill a shopping bag there.

Dress #40 Pastel Work Dress

This struck me as a good go-to-work dress on a lovely spring day. I was busy working today so it meets requirements.

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Dress #39 Jacket Dress Again

Another little jacket dress---with a "pleated" skirt. The jacket fabric is one of the upholstery samples from Joann's. I'm surprised that the scale of the fabric works this small.

Dress #38 Damask

A summer party dress? I love, love, love the bubble hem, and I resolve that this summer, I myself will have a dress with a bubble hem. This little number is made from a slightly used paper napkin.

Dress #37 March Forth

This date has always been special to me---an end of winter and a way of moving forward to the rest of the year. I always kept my celebration private, as the concept strikes some people as strange. Imagine my delight when I meet my husband and discover that he "celebrates" it as well. He writes a letter to his now-grown daughter every year. The idea of marching gives a military flavor, so we have this dress for today:

Dress #36 Paris Dress Shop Sign

This is a metal sign hanging in the atelier. I love the vintage look, and I have fabric to match in my collection. Another of my treasures...

Friday, March 2, 2012

Dress #35 Washi Tape

Washi tape is a fairly new craft product, but oh, so much fun to manipulate! It has a thin consistency, sticky, but still easy to remove and change. There are so many variations of designs, and this dress only uses a couple that I have.

Dress #34 Cameo

I saw someone on the web making traditional-looking cameos using Oreos. Of course, I immediately thought of a dress, but really didn't want to buy an entire package---for obvious reasons. But yesterday, guess what Costco was sampling? Yep. Working with the icing was more difficult than I expected, but here is our dress:
